Courses at the University of Iceland
The Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies is an academic research institute that operates in close collaboration with the University of Iceland. Its research activity is organized within four main departments: the Manuscript Department, the Department of Lexicography, the Folklore Department, and the Department of Name Studies. These departments are responsible for the various collections of documents and data that have either been built up by the Institute and/or its forerunners, such as the Institute of Lexicography (now the Department of Lexicography), or that have been placed in the Institute’s care, as is the case with the Arnamagnæan Manuscript Collection. The members of the Institute conduct research relating to this material and offer university courses in palaeography, philology, medieval and Renaissance literature, manuscript studies, lexicography, folklore, and onomastics, at the undergraduate as well as post-graduate levels, by special agreement with the University of Iceland.
