The Dictionary of Björn Halldórsson, Lexicon Islandico-Latino-Danicum, was first published in 1814 under the supervision of the Danish linguist Rasmus Christian Rask (1787-1832). This dictionary contains around 30,000 headwords, a great many of which represent popular vocabulary of the 18^th century. The dictionary thus has great validity for studies of the history of Icelandic vocabulary. The dictionary was republished in 1992, edited by Jón Aðalsteinn Jónsson.
