The dictionary Nucleus Latinitatis, or Kleyfsi as it is sometimes called, was first published in Copenhagen in 1738. It is a Latin dictionary with Icelandic definitions, containing approximately 16,000 headwords. The dictionary is an important witness to the Icelandic language of the first part of the 18^th century, providing a good cross-section of the language at that time. Guðrún Kvaran and Friðrik Magnússon prepared the new edition for publication in 1994. Following the dictionary text is a list of the Icelandic vocabulary in the dictionary entries.
