The Institute has at its disposal two apartments which are rented to scholars from abroad, usually for a period of no less than a week, and not exceeding three months. Applicants must be working on Icelandic studies at the University of Iceland or some comparable institution during their stay.
Apartment located at Þingholtsstræti 29, 101 Reykjavík, on the upper floor, where the Institute is located. It is an historic wooden house, built in 1899, and a protected building. The aparment is 100 square metres, comprising two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and bathroom.
Apartment located in Hvassaleiti 30, 103 Reykjavík, the 3rd floor to the left. The Árni Magnússon Institute in Iceland inherited the apartment from Kristinn E. Andrésson (12. June 1901 - 20. August 1973) and Þóra Vigfúsdóttir (26. November 1897 - 28. May 1980). The apartment is over 120 square metres, comprising three bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and bathroom.
The apartments are equipped with all usual furnishings, kitchen utensils and bedding.
