Snorri Sturluson Icelandic Fellowship

On the occasion of 750th anniversary of Snorri Sturluson, 23rd September 1991, did the Icelandic government decide to provide annual grants under the scholar’s name. According to the rules on grants, these shall invite foreign writers, translators and scholars to stay in Iceland in order to get to know the language, culture and human life as well as possible. The grants shall be awarded for at least three months and are based on the payment of travel expenses of the beneficiaries and the cost of living within the country.

There is a special application form to be used when applying for the Fellowships. Applicants should submit a brief but thorough account of the purpose of their stay in Iceland, specifying period of stay, as well as details of education and publications. Application deadline is 1st December each year.
