Sjá greinkall á íslensku

The linguistic journal Orð og tunga is now accepting submissions. Manuscripts should be submitted to the editors by October 15th, 2025, for publication in the 2026 issue.

Orð og tunga is a peer-reviewed journal, published annually by The Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies. It contains articles in Icelandic, Scandinavian and English on language and linguistics, in particular on lexicology, lexicography, onomastics, terminology, as well as language policy and planning studies.

For the upcoming issue we especially welcome articles dealing with place names, in a broad sense, but of course we welcome all other submissions that fall under the general scope of the journal.

The maximum length of a peer-reviewed article is 8.000 words. Authors are kindly requested to adhere to the journal guidelines published on the journal’s home page. Abstracts and previous issues of the journal are also available on the same website.

Note, that the journal has an open access policy. By delivering a manuscript for the upcoming issue, the author agrees that the paper will be published electronically as well as in print.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the editors.
